Blythe is a large-headed fashion doll that is about 28cm tall (though there are also other size variations), and has large eyes that can change color with the use of a pull-string located on the back of her head. Modifying and customizing these dolls is very popular within the Blythe collecting community (though many also enjoy collecting the stock dolls as well).

The original Blythe was created in 1972 by the USA-based toy company Kenner (and later acquired by Hasbro). Hasbro is the intellectual property owner of the Blythe logo, image, and copyright. Cross World Connections (CWC) was granted a license by Hasbro to handle the sales and promotion of Blythe in Japan and Korea, with Takara Tomy acting as the manufacturer of the dolls themselves (though as of 2021, it has been announced by CWC that Good Smile Company will be taking over Blythe manufacturing and distribution).
